Just 13 days before I'm set to leave for varsity, they buy an alsation puppy. They bought Kuzco (yes, the emperor from Disney's Emperor's New Groove) with the excuse of the rapid decline of our neighbourhood's safety. We WERE the only house in the area without a security system and a dog. I think - as does my sister - that it's a ploy to make sure I don't run away from home and never look back. Of course, that was my initial plan of action.
Kuzco is only 8 weeks old and such a naughty boy! He is cute and black and oh so fluffy! It's just horrible that I'm going to miss him growing up. In fact, he won't be my dog at all... and this is the first puppy we've ever had.
Not only that, my parents keep telling us we must treat Kuzco like a guard dog, not a pet. He's a pedigree from only the best breeding dogs. At night, when he yelps from his bathroom-turned-bedroom, I'm not allowed to go and comfort him because it teaches him that he is rewarded when he yelps. Not a very good habit. This is what the puppy book says. This book is treated like the Bible practically! Don't let the puppy run across the tiles! The Puppy Book says it's bad for them. Don't give the puppy nicknames! The Puppy Book says to use ONLY the puppy's chosen name.
I't just a puppy... and not even really mine.
